"Most folks think that western humor falls into two categories: the dry wit of
Teddy Roosevelt and Will Rogers, or the outdoor antics of Patrick McManus.
Miles Athey's western humor likely falls somewhere in between."

Folks just don’t pay anuff attention to
meanin's anymore. Ain’t anuff deep
thinkers left. For instance, what’s the
meanin' of "there's one too many
cowboys?”
Well most of you would have some knee-
jerk reaction like that of a standard
shallow thinker, "twere a small herd
so we didn’t need the 'xtry dude.”
But the real meaning from a deep
thinker is, “there was one not
enough cowgirls.”

Many a young boy
played cowboy,
Certain he was a
bona fide wowboy.
But the older he got,
The slower his trot,
Now he trots like
a Purina chowboy.

There ain’t none
better at ranchin'
than those who
gather daily for a
bit of braggin' over
a few drinks at the
local watering hole.

Farmin' is
one disease
I'd only
wish on
my worst
enemy.
